Being that I am EXTREMELY obsessive compulsive, their will be a ton of innocous lists on this site. So, I figured, why not kick off the obsession in a unique way?
I loves me my screamo, and this list displays the 5 best screamo covers there are, all with quaint little youtube vids! Yay!
5. Miss May I-Swing
Every time I hear this song I just picture Seth Rogen throwin’ dice in Knocked Up. Miss May I manages to take an already dance-inducing song and make it even more so.
4. Devil Wears Prada-Still Fly
I absolutely adore these Christian Metal-core kids from my home state. They’ve all been together since ’05 and they never even read the titular novel until after they had chosen it for a name. Triple A-mazing.
3. Brokencyde-Low
These guys are amazing. Hailing from Arizona, they were among the very first bands to blend screamo and hip hop. Their style actually lends to them being able to cover Flo-rida without any problem at all. It’s just a shame that they haven’t become household names yet.
2. Sea of Treachery-Misery Business
Sea of Treachery is, admittedly, not my all time favorite band, but this cover of Paramore’s Misery Business is one of my all time favorite covers, screamo or not.
1. A Static Lullaby-Let Go
Absolutely amazing. I have been listening to this cover for a long time now and it never gets old. I actually love Frou Frou and Imogen Heap, her version actually gives me an equal amount of goosebumps, but, as this list is of screamo covers, ASL takes the win. ASL manage to preserve the serenity behind the song while still adding the most amazing hardcore element to it. Simply phenom. Loves it.
And that’s it, boys and girls! My first ever top 5! There will be multitudes of top 10′s, 25′s, and 32.7′s in the future, but I think we got it started with quite a bang!
